Candice and Peter’s Magical Movie Studio Wedding

How We Met

It’s a crazy story that still put us in awe today. I was on a girls trip in Miami and Peter was also in Miami visiting his cousins. We both happened to be at the same bar. His cousins invited my friends and I to hang out at their table. Peter and I started talking and realized we were not only both from Michigan, but went to the same college, at the same time and live 10 minutes apart!! We became friends and realized we knew a lot of the same people. A few months later we started dating and 10 months later we were engaged!

Our Wedding Inspo

I come from a huge, middle eastern family where having a wedding with 500-600 guests in the same reception hall as everyone else, is totally the norm. I really wanted to do something different. Most of the weddings we attend are for the parents of the bride and groom, not for the actual bride and groom. Peter and I had a vision for our wedding. We wanted it to be majority our friends and everyone to PARTY. We searched and searched for a venue, when finally we came across a movie studio that allowed us to transform the place. It was a blank canvas that allowed us to bring our dream wedding to life! With the help of our wedding planners and florists, we created a magical, modern, yet sexy vibe for our reception. I still cannot believe what an amazing transformation it really was! Our guests tell us that it was the most fun wedding that they have ever been to.

The Gown

Being 4’11, I found it extremely difficult to find a gown that I loved. Every dress seemed “to wear me”, instead of me wearing it! I knew I wanted something a little sheer, form fitting and a gown that didn’t weigh more than me.After going to go numerous stores, I finally decided to attend the Monique Lhullier trunk show at Roma Sposa. It was the 2nd or 3rd dress I tried on that day. After putting in on, I knew it was the one! But I did want to add my own personal style to it. I asked them to make custom, detachable sleeves that I could wear for pictures in the morning and during church. I also knew I wanted a detachable skirt. They had the most perfect tulle skirt by Ines Di Santo that I added to complete my look. They even added lace to the middle section to cover me up during mass. It was such a fun surprise to everyone to take off the lace, sleeves and skirt later on during the reception. I also did a hair change and put it up later in the night!
